This term the pupils of the Orange Room have been going on bus journeys using the local bus service. They are learning how to travel independently and will lead to SQA awards.
We have used the bus to go down town and shop at the supermarket. We bought items there for the Macmillan Coffee Afternoon – a successful fundraiser, we raised £220. The pupils then paid this money into the bank. The work carried out for this worthy cause will also lead to the pupils getting SQA awards in “Fundraising” and “Organising a Social Event”.
We have also been working with “What’s For Tea Tonight?”, carrying out work experience harvesting crops and looking after the pigs on the small farm, in this case leading to SQA awards in “Agriculture” and “Working with Animals”.
The class will be working on a variety of other SQA units throughout the rest of the year.
